NL-25-026 Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization Subject Matter Expert (SME)

nLogic is seeking a Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process for complex IT environments. This remote position requires deep expertise in DoD cybersecurity assessment and authorization, with a focus on applying NIST SP 800-53 security controls across large-scale, integrated information systems.

Responsibilities and Duties Include:
  • Serve as the SME for cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities in accordance with DoD RMF processes.
  • Apply security control requirements to DLA’s complex infrastructure, including enclaves, AIS applications, and outsourced IT systems.
  • Determine the severity of identified vulnerabilities and assess their impact on system authorization status.
  • Conduct thorough security control assessments and support authorization reviews.
  • Develop and present briefings to senior leadership on A&A progress and risk posture.
  • Interpret and apply DoD cybersecurity policies, procedures, and guidance throughout the RMF lifecycle.
  • Evaluate cybersecurity implications for emerging technologies, including Cloud, ICS, WES, and OT environments.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with RMF and NIST-based A&A processes in DoD environments.
  • Prior experience assessing security controls and supporting authorization efforts for large, enterprise-level systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity implementation strategies, including policies and operational procedures.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity considerations for emerging technologies such as Cloud and Industrial Control Systems.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with IT-II (Non-Critical Sensitive) or Tier 3 (T3) eligibility at time of application.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, SSCP). Proof of certification is required

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. This position requires a SECRET Security Clearance. This is a full-time position that is fully onsite located at Fort Belvoir, VA.
