NL-23-006 Network Engineer

An exciting career opportunity exists for an entry-level Telecommunications Network Engineer with primary responsibility for designing, installing and operating voice, video and data communication systems. The selected candidate will select and customize telecommunications hardware and software to meet needs of a large multi-functional industrial complex with a wide variety of technical applications.

nLogic is a teaming subcontractor to the National Aerospace Solutions, LLC team contracted by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

Candidate will evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.  Performs assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for ID&C IT Hardware/Network engineering. Assists with the development, implementation, and execution of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract. Performs work, generally within one discipline, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment with relatively few complex features; supports ID&C IT Hardware/Network engineering with deploying and adhering to common engineering work processes throughout the TOS contract. Participates in one or more of the following: Equipment design and development, system design (including concept sketches and layouts), testing of materials, preparation of specifications and design calculations, reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data by other engineers or by suppliers, preparation or review of engineering studies and reports, preparation or review of material quantity estimates, uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools, participate in incident investigations, fitness for service evaluations, committees formed for specific tasks. Prepares letters for replies to vendor correspondence. Monitors schedule within discipline. Assist in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders. Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate to advanced degree of complexity, and prepares comments and recommendations. It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. Perform other related duties as required.

Required: A recognized degree in a Computer Science, Engineering or a related scientific discipline, from an accredited college or university, or a professional Engineer-In-Training (EIT) license from a recognized licensing board, or a sufficient number of specialized courses in relevant general engineering or appropriate engineering disciplines to meet job requirements. Working knowledge and experience with PC systems hardware, mass storage, graphics, networking, operating systems, and applications. Proficiency in network architecture, network security, and the various fiber-optic and copper cabling systems that comprise the network infrastructure along with a familiarity with TCP/IP and network development practices. Must be able to obtain Security + certification within six months of employment. Candidate must be a United States citizen.

Desired:  Knowledge and practical experience with LANs, WANs, WLANs and IPv6. CCNA or related certifications a plus.

Security clearance not required to be considered, but active Secret Security Clearance is desired. Candidate must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and a Secret Security Clearance prior to the start of work. This is a full-time position, located at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, TN.
